Hi, I'm Nina.
My parents named me Nienke, a very Dutch name that’s almost impossible to pronounce in Asia. So for the last ten years I’ve gone by Nina. Think of it as the export version: same product, adapted for new markets.
I’ve spent my career in finance. I built AI models that decided which start-ups got funded, I backed companies as an angel investor, and I’ve seen how investment decisions change what gets built.
Professionally, I understood how capital shapes the world. Personally, my money was on autopilot. My pension was quietly funding the opposite of the future I wanted for my two sons.
That gap is what BrightWise is about.
The name says it too. Being bright is one thing, but what we do with our brains is what shapes the world. If you’re lucky enough to have a good one, use it for something wise. For me, that’s climate. (It’s also a lot easier to pronounce than Nienke.)
For the past years, I’ve helped climate tech companies enter new markets and grow there: finding partners, scoping pilots and securing the funding to scale. At the same time I sit on the investment committee of Epic Angels, where women investors back climate and impact start-ups, and I run Climate Fresk and Biodiversity Collage workshops to help people understand how climate science works.
In 2026 I brought it together in a TEDx talk, She Invests, the World Changes: capital is our biggest climate lever, and women investors are the one we overlook.
Today, through BrightWise, I work on scaling climate tech solutions with access to capital and markets, for investors, funds and climate companies wherever they are.
